An Invitation to take part in a local Shropshire project.

Working on this project Jo Jukes (Author, artist & creative instigator), Suzanne Tumnus (Story performer, actor & musician), San Antony (Visual and environment conceptual artist), Mary Napper (Visual artist, creative facilitator, author) & Sal Tonge (performer, actor, storyteller, musician and creative instigator)

Three women, Georgina Jackson, Charlotte Burne and Mary Webb, between the 1870s and the 1920s, stepped outside their front doors to notice, collect, record and interpret aspects of their home county, Shropshire. Georgina collected the words, Charlotte the customs and traditions and Mary the landscape and the things that inhabit it

This pilot project will run from April to July. We have three project coordinators to assist you by passing on their expertise, guiding you in the right direction, to provide prompts, advice, and discussion points in actual and online meetings.

We would ask that you use whatever means you have to hand or your preferred way of working to collect and record your findings. You may want to take a photo, record sound, create a database, keep a journal or do something unique to you.

We will have a body of research that may prove useful to other organisations and for individuals to use

Ultimately this will help us prove that local Shropshire people are actively interested in their local heritage, environment, and conservation. Your contribution will help us demonstrate this interest to our local council, and in applying for further funding to create an active database to be housed in libraries, archives and online as well as to continue a path upon which Georgina, Charlotte and Mary left off.
